P.C.C. F.A.Q.'s

Here are a couple of frequently asked questions.

1) How do I get something on the agenda?

If you wish to have something as an agenda item please speak to the chair or bring it up in the relevant subgroup. If the matter is an A.O.B. then please submit it to the chair with ample time (48 hrs) before the meeting. Agenda items are at the discretion of the chair.

2) Do I have to attend every meeting?

Availability for meetings is a primary pre-requisite for nomination onto P.C.C. For decisions to be made, the P.C.C. needs to have as many of its members present and participating. In the case where attendance is impossible, please notify the chair or secretary as far in advance as you possibly can. It would also be helpful to read through the documents, familiarise yourself with the agenda, and send in your thoughts on the issues to be discussed so that you can still contribute to the discernment of the group.

3) How long can I be on P.C.C. for?

As of January 2020 the regulations (Church representation rules) require that all P.C.C. members must have at least a year’s break at the end of their third continuous year on P.C.C. This is with the exemption of Church Wardens who can serve up to a maximum of six continuous years.

In the spirit of shared responsibility within the whole body of the church, we should all be eager to hand over the space of leadership to others and support them as they step in. The more capable and knowledgable people there are in a church, the better it will be governed.

Churches have the ability to pass resolutions at A.P.C.M. that could extend the tenure of officeholders. These are available in the rare case that a particular role needs a longer tenure.
