Work starts

After a flurry of visits and surveys, the scaffolding lorry finally pulled up outside the church. Two men in high-vis coats stepped out and begun to gently carry small boxes and a few poles into the church's courtyard.

"We'll surely need more than two," I thought to myself as I walked up to greet them. It was a cold, wintry morning but undeterred they began.

There is something to be said about grand buildings and their humble beginnings. Seeing the full scaffolding as it currently stands, I am now moved at the memory of those two/three poles that heralded the beginning of this long-awaited restoration project.

Prayer, dedication, and providence had led us here: there were surely interesting days ahead.
